Service Events

GSA Service is proud to reflect the diversity and promote compassion and understanding within the MUSC community. Our weekly "We The Students" newsletters provide educational materials on the month's theme, chosen by our students based on their various passions. Drives and fundraisers occur each month, aligning with the We The Students theme. In addition, we conduct monthly service events which contain a wide range of organizations, from habitat for humanity to beach clean-ups to domestic violence shelters. Resources are available for students who wish to participate in volunteer events more frequently than our monthly service. Suggestions are strongly encouraged regarding future themes for our newsletter or ideas for service events. Contact the Service Chair with any questions, or visit Helper Helper to view available opportunities.

GROWS

Graduate students reaching out with service (GROWS) is an initiative that gives students an opportunity to teach learning modules in Charleston County Area Schools. These modules include lessons about the Brain, Genetics, Research 101, etc. Look out for emails asking for volunteers for specific dates and locations!

Social Events

GSA aims to foster a community among all graduate students, post-docs, and faculty by organizing and hosting various social events. These events include various happy hours throughout the year, general body meetings, and our annual cocktail party.

Poster Board Rental

The Graduate Student Association provides a professional poster board rental service to the Charleston, SC, region. We take great pride in our work and will work with you to ensure your event runs smoothly. We provide set up, take down, and transportation of the boards to your event. All boards are 6 ft by 4 ft, double-sided cork, and rented individually with applicable moving fees applied to the entire order. Our team has set up boards for many groups at MUSC and Charleston, from Wild Dunes conferences to business events at the Gaillard Center. Profits from these rentals help fund social events for our current graduate students, community service events, and donations to charity.

Please email us at gsa@musc.edu with any questions or to organize your event. We look forward to working with you!
